Skis really aren't any fatter this year ... we
will see how it shakes out in the future, but I think that the
big ones are as fat as they will get. This year heralds the emergence
of a new sub category ... 100mm to 115mm waisted skis. These
could be the most versatile backcountry ride ever!
The granddaddy of the fatties is the Atomic BigDaddy.
At 125 underfoot and 190cm long this is not a ski for the faint
of heart. For big boys and goin' fast ... this ski just plain
rocks! This probably won't be
the only ski in your quiver ... but I bet you will ride this
easy turning ski more than you think.

This ski is a little bit stiffer than other skis
in the superfat category ... and a little less shapely. These
skis will probably see a lot of days ... as long as the snow
is soft and grippy, these skis will rip.
Lengths: 190 cm
Sidecut: 145-125-129 mm
We carry other skis in the Atomic line ... the Thug, Pimp, SugarDaddy,
SugarMama, SnoopDaddy, SweetDaddy, the Punx series and
the Nomad series.
Oh yeah ... the Atomic Thug. What
can I say ... this ski rocked my world last year and it returns
this season a little softer and lighter in the tips and tails.
Awesome in the backcountry ... if your gig is booters or just
ripping deep pow lines, this ski is the call.

Lengths: 181, 192 cm
Sidecut: 140-120-133 mm
Dynastar's entry in the big ski fray this season
is the Legend Pro Rider XXL.
This is a beefy ski ... made for very high speed powder skiing
... with the same wood core, metal plate construction as the
Legend Pro. It is available on a limited production run in
a 194 length ... I am hearing rumors that it will be available
as a 200cm model as well. Oh my!

These skis float very well thanks to the massive
surface area and the prow-shaped tips. Designed for expert skiers
looking for the absolute all mountain ski - the ski for the Pro-Riders.
Lengths: 194 cm
Sidecut: 132-109-122 mm
Dynastar's flagship all mountain ski, the Legend
Pro comes in three lengths this season - with a 176
model joining the 186 and 194 cm. With an not so large 123-97-115
mm sidecut and 28 m radius these are designed for one thing
- going fast in variable snow. Very stable at high speed thanks
to the width and torsion box construction, the wood/Rohacell
core offers power and control whatever the snow conditions.
These would be an awesome ski for resort use!
We carry other skis in the Dynastar line ... the
whole Legend lineup!
Eric Pollard's skis are as unique as his style
of riding. They are a pure extension of his own creativity and
ongoing enthusiasm to get out on snow each day and have the time
of his life. Every detail in each of his skis, from their dimensions,
to their construction, and even the paint strokes in the graphics
have been created by Eric.
Line has created one of the most versatile fat
skis available this season ... the Sir
Francis Bacon. At 115mm
underfoot you can land the big backcountry airs, float in the
pow, and rip all over the mountain with stability and quickness.

Lengths: 182 cm
Sidecut: 142-115-139 mm
The Prophet series represents
over four years of research and development by the LINE R&D
Team working with Eric Pollard to create the next generation
of big mountain freeride skis.
The Prophet 100 is LINE's most versatile ski in the Prophet series
with a width that floats in the deep backcountry powder yet maintains
plenty of agility, edge hold and responsiveness when ripping
up the groomers on the way to the lift.
We carry other skis in the Line line (ha, ha) ...
namely the Prophet line.
Volkl has a bunch of winners again this season
... versatility is the magic in these skis. Once you start to
ride volkl ... well, you get spoiled and its hard to ride anything
else!
For winter 2007-2008 Volkl's Gotama has
kept the same seductive shape. This makes the Gotama turn just
that little bit faster, with a radius 25.9 m for the 183 cm length.
An all-mountain twin-tip, the tail has been rounded off and a
new topsheet rounds off the changes for this season. This is
possibly the most perfect inbounds fatty available.

A superb big-mountain deep powder ski, the Gotama floats
like a dream in the soft and
believe or not, this ski is also a carving machine on hard grippy
snow. Built with high performance Frame technology, the Gotama
comes with a Sensor Woodcore core.
Lengths: 168-176-183-190 cm
Side-Cut: 133-105-124 mm
Volkl is at it again ... making another very cool
ski. At a svelte 111mm underfoot, the Katana is
probably the perfect backcountry ski. Named after the long sword
traditionally used by the Japanese Samurai, the Katana is a fat
swallow tail designed for slicing through the deepest powder,
but narrow enough to ski technical conditions.

With a Power sandwich Construction and Full Sensor
Wood Core, vertical sidewalls, and two sheets of titanium. Volkl
has created a new core construction process for their new freeski
and telemark models, the Tough Box. Each wooden core is given
extra strength by a 4x4 FiberWrap covering.
Lengths: 168-198 cm
Side-Cut: 140-111-130 mm
We carry other skis in the Volkl line ... the all
new women's specific fatty ... the Aura, the Sumo,
Mantra, the Bridge, Wall, and Ledge,
and the Unlimited series.

MBC
has a full service shop to deal with
your skiing and biking needs. From mounting your bindings to base
repair, base grinding and edge tuning ... mbc is your shop! Boot
problems? Let our bootfitting team get to work. Fast turn around
to get you back on your skis. We ride ... we understand!

A boot specially designed for skiers who ski fast
in technical conditions and soft snow. Features excellent shin
support and cushioned soles to absorb vibrations and shocks upon
landing.
This boot is probably a perfect allround boot for
the resort. Not too soft, not too stiff ... just right!

The Duke and the Jester have been designed by Markers
Advanced Product Development team to significantly change the binding
category today. The design and features of these bindings will
enhance the freeskier's experience, whether it is safety in the
backcountry, providing better mobility in climbing, or enhanced
performance in the pipe and park.

The Tracker DTS ... it's the easiest transceiver
to use. IT eliminates the stop-and-go processes
of traditional "grid" and "tangent" searching.
Instead, the user follows a simple "flux line" search,
which can be significantly faster for both novices and experts.

Fritschi
Freeride alpine touring bindings are perfect for alpine skiers
who rip the backcountry as hard as
they ski the resort. Skiers can do it all with one rig. Want to
huck that cliff band? No problem. Throw 720’s off a wind
lip? Go ahead. With a beefy design and DIN setting of 12, this
binding can take the abuse of big mountain freeskiing.

We carry a full lineup of sunglasses and goggles
by Scott, Smith, Spy and Carrera.
Innovation and style is what has made these goggles and sunglasses
the choice of action-sport athletes worldwide.

A Fresh Approach. Fresh tracks. Fresh ideas. That’s
what Backcountry Access is all about. They've
proved that, with avalanche beacons, ease-of-use
is more important than range. They popularized Companion Rescue—with
light, integrated shovels and probes. And they
solved the winter hydration problem with their freezeproof Stash
packs.
