Roughly 3/4 of all avalanche
victims die from asphyxiation. If you can find the victim
and get them air within 15 minutes, their chances of survival
are good—barring major trauma. If you miss that window,
their chances drop precipitously. |
|
|
With a transciever like the Tracker,
you’ll shave valuable minutes off the search, giving your
companion their best possible shot at survival.
A better solution is to avoid avalanches
in the first place. Take an avalanche course, learn
safe travel techniques, and practice with your equipment

Your partner is buried ...
you find their location using your transceiver and probe
... you get your shovel out ... now what? There has been
a lot of research dealing with digging folks out ... its
called strategic shoveling. |

this pdf from our friends at BCA ... its
a very good paper dealing with this issue. A must read

The five key points of adhesive ski skin
care ...
| |
|
|
|
| |
• |
1. Never expose
adhesive ski skins to heat. |
|
| |
• |
2. Protect adhesive
ski skins against light and solar radiation. |
|
| |
• |
3. Dry adhesive
ski skins in a dark place at room temperature (without
protective film, and not in the skin bag). |
|
| |
• |
4. Keep dry adhesive
ski skins in the skin bag, with the protective film. |
|
| |
• |
5. Never store
wet adhesive ski skins in the skin bag! |

The Diamir Freeride set a new benchmark
with its combination of outstanding downhill qualities
and functional walking mode. But the Diamir Freeride
Plus demonstrates that even such high standards can be
surpassed: Power Transmission Control simply puts it
in a class of its own.
The PTC Power Transmission Control of the
Diamir Freeride Plus combines unequalled direct power
transmission with perfect stability for outstanding downhill
qualities and a highly comfortable walk mode: pure performance
has never looked better.
|
|
With a beefy design and DIN setting of 12,
this binding can take the abuse of big mountain freeskiing.
For the hike up, the Freeride's four-position
heel riser and neutral front pivot point give you unparalleled
traction and efficiency.
Small 4-7.5, Medium 7.5-12, Extra Large 11-13.5.

Finally, alpine touring (A.T.) bindings
designed specifically for the hard-charging skier. Made
for aggressive skiing and aggressive approaches. Ski
them at the resort. Ski them in the backcountry.

The Naxo nx21 Alpine Touring Binding was introduced
last season as a new standard in DIN releasable bindings ... with a
class leading 14 DIN spring tension. You can walk in the Naxo equally
well in either alpine or AT boots. The crux of its design is an innovative
Virtual Rotation System that features three pivot points under the
toe piece. This allows for a totally natural, rolling stride while
touring.

The Easiest just got easier.
In 1997, the Tracker DTS revolutionized the
transceiver market by introducing digital, dual antenna
technology. Since then, it has become the world’s
best-selling transceiver. That’s for a simple reason: it’s
the easiest to use.
The Tracker DTS™ is the world's
first digital avalanche beacon. It's also the first transceiver
to have a dual receiving antenna. This eliminates the stop-and-go
processes of traditional "grid" and "tangent" searching.
Instead, the user follows a simple "flux line" search,
which can be significantly faster for both novices and
experts.
|
|
Warning: No transceiver is effective without
proper training. Read your owner’s manual, practice thoroughly,
carry a shovel and probe, and take an avalanche safety course.

Sure,
the backcountry is great ... but you've still got to get to the
trailhead ... right? What are the Alberta

BCA has produced quite possibly the finest skiing
pack available. No shifting, no bouncing ... just solid and comfortable.
100 oz reservoir, external shovel pocket, diagonal & A-frame
ski mount.
BCA was the first to pioneer the concept of freezeproof
winter hydration. Then they made it more convenient with their
Nalgene-compatible hydration system. In 2007-08, they ’ve
broken new ground by adding Outlast® temperature regulation
technology.

For those who need the biggest, stiffest AT boot
out there, look no further than the Endorphin. A notch above the
Adrenalin,
the Endorphin rivals the highest performance alpine
boots made, yet thanks to its interchangeable sole and hinging
cuff in walk mode, this boot performs on the ascent as well as
the descent.
Featuring the G-Fit 3 moldable liner, which adds a tougher outer material and
a simple, effective lacing system to the anatomical design with a heavily padded
cuff and tongue.
We are carrying a selection of the high performance
AT boots from Garmont ... the Shaman, the Endorphin,
and the women's specific Xena.

The Duke and the Jester have been designed by Markers
Advanced Product Development team to significantly change the binding
category today. The design and features of these bindings will
enhance the freeskier's experience, whether it is safety in the
backcountry, providing better mobility in climbing, or enhanced
performance in the pipe and park.
For the big mountain freeskier who wants an easy
climbing function combined with the ultimate in security and performance
coming down the mountain.

A Fresh Approach. Fresh tracks. Fresh ideas. That’s
what Backcountry Access is all about. They've
proved that, with avalanche beacons, ease-of-use
is more important than range. They popularized Companion Rescue—with
light, integrated shovels and probes. And they
solved the winter hydration problem with their freezeproof Stash
packs.
